My story
I was just looking for something fun to do on the side.
Before
I was a labor and delivery nurse working 12-hour shifts on the weekends, looking for something fun to do on the side.
January 2022
I came across this opportunity. I could tap into travel perks, get paid for booking and planning travel, and even get paid on the trips I already had planned for myself. I realized I could eventually replace my nursing income and have more flexibility. So I decided to go all in and build it at my own pace, while still working my full-time weekend shifts.
Fall 2023
We found out we were pregnant with our second baby. My position at the hospital only offered unpaid maternity leave, and I'm the breadwinner. So I put all of my travel income aside to fund my maternity leave, so we wouldn't be hit financially when that time came.
My travel business fully replaced my nursing income. I got an extended maternity leave with my baby, and I was able to move into a new, more flexible nursing position.
December 2024
Then December 2024 happened.
I had a very severe injury that took me out of work, and I ultimately lost what I had built as a medical professional. I honestly thought my life was over. Everything I knew about me, my whole identity, was gone.
But it was in that moment that I realized what I had built: a sustainable travel business that had already replaced my nursing income. I could lean into it 100% and fully rely on it.
So that's what I did. For the last year and a half, I've fully trusted God in his plan and kept building this into something sustainable, full time.
Now
And now? I'm 100% home with my daughter, and we have never had to pay for daycare. We travel multiple times a year as a family because we have the flexibility. Our son is in a cyber school flex program, so we get so much more time together.
A random Tuesday might be the park. Or a random lunch or dinner date in the middle of the week, just because. Or going away for 10 days to celebrate my husband's birthday on our very first family cruise.
You don't have to start big.
I started with something fun to do on the side. You can start there, too.
